I am sorry I have not been very good, okay awful, at updating you on my Washington adventures. The truth is that well I have just been to darn lazy. But, I will tell you that I have fallen in love. Nope not with a boy, sorry mom, but with this city. I have never had so much fun in my life. I mean from walking the Washington Monuments in the evening, to biking around the city, to eating at their fabulous restaurants, to giving tours in the capital, I am having the time of my life.
I guess I should start at the beginning huh? Well like I mentioned earlier we first had to live at American University, but two weeks later and we are all settled at George Washington University in the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Hall (JBKO for the locals), a mile from Georgetown.
Check out this humble abode! We call it our loft.
Look at that closet! We feel so Sex in the City.. With the pantry stocked, our little loft was finally complete. We went to target for our first grocery outing. One thing I love about D.C. is that they are so green. So in every store bags are five cents. (Now that may not seem like a lot but how would you like at the end of the year to see how much you spent on bags. Yep, so it works.) When we got to George Washington they gave us a free bag. So when we went to Target you betcha we brought that bag, and you betcha we felt like locals. The metro was hopping because a Nationals game had just gotten out. So there we were, just two local gals with their bag of groceries giving eye rolls at all the non-locals who did not know that the left side of the escalator is for the walkers and the right for the standers. It was a monumental moment for us.
Bottom line is that we love our "loft" and it even has a door bell. We are officially open and ready for visitors!
And so on,
Elizabeth
