One day away. 5 movies left. I think I can, I think I can.
The weather has been perfect for a movie weekend. Yesterday, which was Friday, was yet another cold day. So my favorite, chick-fil-a, a blanket, and my two red box movies Inception and The Kids are All Right it was! But since nothing is ever easy, we had to go to two different red boxes to get the movies because the first one was not working. What I will do for the Oscars!
We first watched The Kids Are All Right and let me just say I love Julianne Moore. I think she is beautiful! The movie was good. It is about a lesbian couple, Nic and Jules, who have created a life for themselves in Southern California. They have two teenage children, Joni and Laser. Before Joni leaves for college Laser asks her a favor to contact their biological father, Paul. The kids are drawn to their father's easy going lifestyle which is different from their Mom's Nic strict one. Jules also strikes up an unconventional relationship with Paul. As Paul comes into their lives a new chapter begins re-defining their family. It was a bit awkward at times with some of the intimacy scenes for me. But since it is nominated for best picture, I figured I would tough it out.
After that one we watched the highly praised movie Inception. Let me preface saying I am a HUGE question asker during movies. It is a flaw of mine, I will admit. My brother hates watching movies with me and my friends just deal with it. I have heard that this movie makes you think and is a little confusing, so I could only imagine how many questions I would be asking. But before starting this movie my friends banned me from asking any questions. Shoot! Now I how in the world am I going to understand any of this without their help! So for the most part my lips were sealed shut and I am pretty impressed with myself for not being utterly confused. It is definitely a stand out movie but I do not think it will be winning best picture at the Oscars. Only because it was a summer movie so the latest buzz is now on newer movies such as Black Swan and The King's Speech.
I am going to see the Black Swan this afternoon, eeeekkk! I am nervous!
And so on,
Elizabeth
