And the Oscar goes to..

After October 1 - January 1 (my favorite time of the year) my second favorite time of the year is award's season. I am talking about the Hollywood Award's Season! Yes it is true I tend to be, at times, a Hollywood junkie. I just can not help it! My hearts starts pumping with excited when I start hearing all the chatter about who and what is going to be nominated...especially for the Academy Awards!

So I dedicated this weekend to be Oscar weekend. My mom and I are going to watch (okay try and watch as many as possible) every movie nominated for best picture...get the popcorn ready!

The King's Speech
127 Hours
The Social Network
Toy Story 3
True Grit
Winter's Bone

A few weeks ago we went to see the King's Speech. Not only did I feel the acting was phenomenal but I also felt it inspiring. Colin Firth is predicted to bring home the Oscar this year, and I think he fully deserves it. Geoffrey Rush is also nominated as best supporting actor. Even though he is not predicted to take home an Oscar he sure takes it home in my book.

This afternoon my mom and I went to see True Grit. It is a cowboy western, a movie my dad would love. Jeff Bridges plays a US Marshall, who loves his alcohol. He is hired by Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) to find Tom Chaney, the man who murdered her father. Both Jeff Bridges and Hailee Steinfeld are nominated for best supporting actor and actress but are not predicted to take home an Oscar. But how many people can say they have been nominated for an Oscar at the age of 14 Hailee?? I thought this movie was brilliant.

Who does not want to know how facebook, the social media that is changing the world, was created? Social Network is not only nominated but also to be some serious competition to the other nominees. I thought this movie was fascinating.
